Moderation Policy for ID Watch

1. Purpose

The “ID Watch” tipoff channel is designed to empower consumers or for that matter anyone  in Singapore to share their experiences—both positive and negative—with ID/Renovator firms. Whether highlighting exceptional service or raising concerns about conduct, the platform serves as a transparent and constructive space for feedback.

This moderation policy outlines the principles and procedures that govern how submissions are received, reviewed, and managed. It ensures that all tipoffs are:

  • Handled fairly, with impartial review and consistent standards
  • Kept confidential, protecting the identity of submitters unless consent is given
  • Managed responsibly, in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines

 

By fostering accountability and celebrating excellence, “ID Watch” aims to elevate industry standards and support informed consumer choices.

 
2. Scope

This policy applies to all tipoffs submitted through the “ID Watch” platform. Submissions may include:

Reports

  • Poor workmanship or substandard materials
  • Project delays or missed deadlines
  • Unethical conduct, including dishonesty or breach of contract
  • Safety violations or non-compliance with regulations
  • Unprofessional behavior or communication

 

Praise

  • Exceptional design quality or creativity
  • Timely delivery and project management excellence
  • Outstanding customer service and professionalism
  • Ethical conduct and transparency
  • Positive community impact or sustainability efforts

 

Applicability

  • Covers all submissions related to interior design, renovation, and construction projects
  • Applies to both residential and commercial engagements
  • Includes feedback from clients, contractors, suppliers, and third-party observers
 
3. Submission Guidelines

To ensure fairness, accuracy, and respectful communication, all submissions to the “ID Watch” platform must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Anonymity and Contact Tipoffs may be submitted anonymously or with contact details for potential follow-up or clarification. Providing contact information is optional but encouraged for verification purposes.
  • Factual Basis All submissions must be truthful and based on firsthand experience. Hearsay, speculation, or secondhand accounts will not be considered.
  • Respectful Language Offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, or threatening language is strictly prohibited. Submissions should maintain a professional tone and avoid personal attacks.
  • Supporting Evidence Where possible, include relevant documentation, photos, or other materials to support your report or praise. This helps ensure a fair and thorough review.
  • Scope Compliance Submissions must align with the scope of the platform, focusing on workmanship, conduct, or service quality related to interior design and renovation projects.
 
4. Moderation Process

All submissions to the “ID Watch” platform undergo a structured moderation process to ensure fairness, accuracy, and accountability.

a. Initial Review

  • All tipoffs are screened within 5 business days of submission.
  • Moderators assess each submission for:
    • Relevance to the platform’s scope
    • Clarity of the report or praise
    • Potential legal risks, including defamation or privacy breaches

 

b. Verification

  • Verified tipoffs may involve further checks, such as:
    • Cross-referencing with other reports or historical data
    • Reviewing public records, online reviews, or social media feedback
    • Contacting involved parties, only with the submitter’s explicit consent

 

c. Outcome

  • Based on the review and verification, tipoffs may result in:
    • No action, if the submission is unverifiable, irrelevant, or lacks sufficient detail
    • Internal flagging for future audits or pattern tracking
    • Adjustments to the firm’s seal rating or profile notes
    • Formal investigation or issuance of a public advisory, in cases of serious concern
 
5. Confidentiality & Privacy

The “ID Watch” platform is committed to safeguarding the privacy of all users and ensuring responsible data handling:

  • Identity Protection Submitter identities are kept strictly confidential and will not be disclosed unless explicit written consent is provided. Anonymous submissions are fully supported.
  • Data Handling Compliance All personal data is collected, stored, and processed in accordance with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). This includes secure storage, limited access, and responsible use of information.
  • Purpose Limitation Submitted data will only be used for the purposes of review, investigation, and platform improvement. It will not be shared with third parties without consent, except where required by law.
  • Retention and Deletion Tipoff records are retained only as long as necessary for review and resolution. Users may request deletion of their submission or personal data at any time, subject to verification.
  • Platform Security Technical safeguards are in place to prevent unauthorized access, data breaches, or misuse of information.

7. Abuse Prevention

  • False or Malicious Submissions Repeatedly submitting false, misleading, or malicious tipoffs undermines the credibility of the platform and may lead to disciplinary action including reporting to relevant authorities for action.
  • Consequences of Abuse Individuals found to be abusing the platform may face:
    • Blacklisting of their IP address or user account to prevent further access
    • Legal action in cases involving defamation, harassment, or other violations of applicable laws
  • Monitoring and Enforcement All submissions are subject to review. Patterns of abuse will be flagged and investigated by the moderation team.
