About HAUSMARK

What is HAUSMARK and why does it exist?

HAUSMARK is Singapore’s Independent Authority to assess ID/Renovators beyond design. We help property owners make confident, informed decisions by offering structured, unbiased assessments of ID/Renovators so you don’t have to rely on guesswork, unverified reviews or bias assessments.

Yes, Hausmark is free for property owners to use. You can browse firm profiles, view basic ratings, and access essential information at no cost. For those seeking deeper insights like detailed audit reports or scoring breakdowns, they are available for purchase.  The core platform is designed to empower property owners with trusted information without requiring a subscription or fee.

Hausmark is built for homeowners and property decision makers who want trusted, evidence-based guidance when selecting interior design firms for renovation projects. Whether you’re renovating a BTO, HDB flat, condominium, landed home, or even a commercial space, Hausmark helps you cut through marketing claims and online reviews by offering structured ratings based on verified homeowner interviews, project audits, mystery shopper visits, and firm documentation. It’s ideal for anyone seeking clarity, accountability, and peace of mind before committing to a renovation partner.

Unlike crowdsourced reviews, HAUSMARK evaluations are conducted using a standardized rubric. We assess firms across nine categories from professionalism and execution readiness to sustainability and credentials giving you a deeper, more reliable picture than seal ratings alone.

Our inspectors include both seasoned professionals and everyday homeowners. Architects, engineers, and interior designers bring technical expertise, while real homeowners contribute practical insights from lived renovation experiences. This blend ensures our evaluations are both rigorous and relatable.

Our scoring framework was co-developed with input from academic researchers in design and construction, members of professional interior design bodies, and renovation industry experts. But more importantly, it includes insights from real homeowners people who’ve lived through renovations and know what truly matters. Their experiences helped shape the rubric to reflect not just technical standards, but practical realities like communication, trust, and post-renovation support. This ensures our evaluations are grounded, balanced, and genuinely useful to future homeowners.

Anyone planning a renovation project whether you’re a first-time homeowner, upgrading to a resale flat, or managing a landed property will benefit from our reports. They’re especially useful for those comparing multiple firms, seeking transparency beyond marketing, or wanting to avoid costly mistakes. Industry professionals, property agents, and even renovation firms themselves also use HAUSMARK reports to benchmark quality and improve service.

Reading Hausmark gives homeowners far more confidence than relying on Google reviews alone while Google offers a single star rating based on anonymous public sentiment, Hausmark provides structured evaluations across 5 key pillars like design execution, integrity, and service. Our ratings are based on verified homeowner interviews, project audits, mystery shopper visits, and firm documentation, not promotional noise or incentivized feedback. We filter out bias, go deeper than surface-level praise, and offer a clear Seal System that helps homeowners make informed renovation decisions with transparency and trust.

You don’t have to totally ignore Google reviews, but they should be seen as supplementary Hausmark offers a far more reliable and structured evaluation based on verified homeowner interviews, project audits, mystery shopper visits, and firm documentation, while Google reviews rely on unverified public opinions that can be biased, outdated, or manipulated; for serious renovation decisions, Hausmark gives you deeper, data-backed insights you can trust.

Hausmark uses wax seals instead of stars to signal trust, authenticity, and depth qualities that star ratings often fail to convey. The wax seal is a timeless symbol of integrity and verified endorsement, historically used to certify important documents. Unlike stars, which are often vague, inflated, or gamified, Hausmark’s seals represent structured, evidence-based evaluations across multiple dimensions like design quality, service, and integrity. Each seal is earned not given through audits, interviews, and mystery shopper checks, making it a mark of genuine distinction rather than popularity.

Hausmark is a consumer trust platform, while SIDAC and IDCS are professional accreditation body. They serve complementary but distinct roles in the renovation ecosystem.

About The Evaluation

How are scores calculated?

Each score is based on our standardized rubric. We assess documentation, client engagement, project readiness, and industry standing. Scores are never influenced by advertising or sponsorship.

No. HAUSMARK does not accept payment for ratings, listings, or visibility. All evaluations are merit-based and independently conducted.

That’s entirely possible. Our evaluations are based on structured interviews, documentation, and observed behavior at a specific point in time. Renovation outcomes can vary due to project complexity, timing, or individual staff. If your experience differs significantly, we encourage you to share it with us via  ID Watch
Verified feedback helps us refine future evaluations and flag emerging issues.

Yes, it’s possible for a firm to have a low Google/other review platforms rating but still earn a 3-Seal rating from Hausmark, because the two systems measure very different things Google reviews reflect public sentiment, which can be skewed by a few vocal customers or isolated incidents, while Hausmark uses a rigorous, evidence-based process including homeowner interviews, project audits, mystery shopper visits, and firm documentation to assess consistent performance across multiple dimensions; so even if a firm has poor online reviews, it may still demonstrate excellence in design, execution, and service when evaluated objectively.

If your experience differs significantly, we encourage you to share it with us via ID Watch. Verified feedback helps us refine future evaluations and flag emerging issues.

Firm Listings & Requests

Why isn’t my preferred firm listed?

We prioritize ID/Renovator Firms based on demand, visibility, and project volume. You can submit a request for evaluation by dropping us an email at wecanhelp@hausmark.com.sg

Typically, every 12 months, or sooner if significant changes occur in management, portfolio, or public feedback.

HAUSMARK conducts a selective, merit-based evaluation of renovation firms each year, but we intentionally do not disclose the number of firms reviewed annually. This allows us to focus on quality over quotas, and ensure that seals are awarded based solely on performance, not volume

While firms that earn 3 Hausmark Seals often demonstrate higher standards in design, execution, and service which can correlate with more experienced teams and premium materials they aren’t always more expensive. A higher quote may reflect better project management, clearer contracts, and fewer hidden costs, offering greater value and peace of mind. Some 3-Seal firms deliver exceptional outcomes at competitive prices, especially for homeowners who prioritize long-term durability and stress-free renovations. Hausmark doesn’t rate firms based on affordability, but on verified performance so homeowners can use our filters to find firms that match both their quality expectations and budget

Any firm awarded a HAUSMARK Seal is considered a strong performer as they’ve passed our rigorous evaluation and are safe to explore. But every property owner’s needs are different. Some firms may excel in space planning, others in customer service, design creativity, or project execution. Use our seals as a trusted reference and a good starting point, not a final verdict. Even firms with 1 Seal may outperform 3 Seal firms especially in the areas that matter most to you. It all depends on which pillars you value more. Explore each firm’s strengths, portfolio, and approach to find the right match for your renovation goals, lifestyle, and budget.

Absolutely! If you’re a property owner or simply someone who came across an ID/Renovator that you think deserves a seal, we’d love to hear from you. Simply submit through our nomination/tipoff form at: Nominate an ID / Tip-off a bad experience with an ID.

Yes, a firm can lose its Hausmark Seals over time. Seals are not permanent they reflect a firm’s current performance based on verified audits, homeowner feedback, and mystery shopper evaluations. If a firm’s service quality, project execution, or integrity declines, or if new audits reveal issues, its seal rating may be downgraded or removed entirely. This ensures that Hausmark ratings remain dynamic, trustworthy, and aligned with real-world performance.

They are not listed because ID/Renovators must meet specific criteria to be evaluated. Hausmark only features firms that have undergone its independent validation process, which includes project documentation reviews, verification and inspectors’ assessments. ID/Renovators that fail to meet baseline standards, or have not yet been assessed will not appear on the platform. This ensures that every listed ID/Renovator has been vetted for quality, transparency, and accountability.

After choosing an interior design firm from Hausmark, the next step is to engage them directly for a consultation bring along your renovation goals, budget, and timeline, and use the insights from their Hausmark report to guide your discussion. Ask about their past projects, clarify their payment terms, and request a detailed quotation and project schedule. Be sure to review their contract carefully, especially clauses on variations, delays, and dispute resolution.
