During the design walkthrough, we recorded at least seven to eight moments where the designer expressed genuine excitement about the possibilities for our unconventional layout. Overall, HAUSMARK Inspectors are impressed by their sensitivity to clients’ budget and their resourcefulness in recommending alternative materials to achieve the desired effect. At the point of our review, we noted that this is verbally confirmed and not formally documented in the company’s terms and conditions, so clarifications could be sought to ensure certainty. We also noted a clause in the T&C that the retention amount on the final payment milestone is capped at 5%, meaning no more than this percentage can be withheld, and for larger renovation costs, the retention could be proportionally less than 5%. In our opinion, while this is not a deal breaker, it would be prudent to request that the renovator include clarifications in the quotation provided to you for added assurance.
